Cashew Friction Dust
Cashew Friction particle, often called Friction dust is cross-linked and cured phenolic polymer derived from CNSL. It is used as an additive in manufacture of Brake Linings, Pads, Industrial Linings and Clutch Plates, ensuring safe brake linings, and better roads. Friction Dust is cross linked product obtained from the reaction of CNSL with hexamine to achieve the desired Friction dust properties. It is converted into powder form using the standard mesh sizes. In automotive industry, the inclusion of friction particles helps control brake noise. The particles offer perfect cushioning effect to the linings owing to their resilient nature .
On the whole, they reduce wear, improve friction stability, act as noise dampeners, and can be formulated to exhibit high heat resistance and outstanding hardness and flexibility.
Properties
Due to the resilient nature of friction dust, it cushions the linings in which they are employed. In addition, it decomposes on the surface of a lining at various elevated temperatures which controls the wear and thereby render a protective device by prohibiting further rise in temperature. The inclusion of friction particles also helps control brake noise, and this property is widely applied in automotive industry.
Application
Cashew Friction dust finds a variety of applications ranging from those at automotive industry to Electrical insulation industry. The major utilization includes,
1)Disc Pad
2)Heavy Duty Blocks
3)Clutch facings
4)Brake Linings
